What Were They Thinking??? Critics of the #AaliyahMovie Blast #Lifetime via Social Media

Not even Funk Master Flex dropping a bomb over a record could cover up the conversations about this mess of a biopic from Lifetime. Lifetime decided to make a movie about the life of Aaliyah, 90's R&B sensation, who's life was shortened by a tragic plane crash in the Bahamas, after returning from filming her last music video "Rock the Boat," (directed by Hype Williams). Aaliyah's family, close friends, including Missy Elliot, Timbaland and DMX among many others, publicly mourned the loss of their dear friend, even until this day. Naturally, when it comes to anything related to the memory of Aaliyah, all parties are extremely sensitive, because after all, with such a beautiful spirit, wasn't she deserving of nothing but the best?

First of all, Aaliyah's estate, who hold the keys to her musical rights, locked the door on Lifetime and refused to release her original music. This was mostly due to Lifetime appointing Wendy as a producer, and a few other people who I've never heard of, mentioning they wanted to talk about the relationship between a 15-year old Aaliyah and 27-year-old Robert 'R.' Kelly. Her family did not want anything said about it and slammed her short marriage with the R&B crooner, calling it a "lie."

[Gasp...] Check out the Twitter, IG and FB roasts from around the Internet. Even super-producer Timbaland joined in. --Penn
